PA Jury Awards $250,000 Medical Malpractice Verdict

A Pennsylvania jury has returned a $250,000 verdict in a medical malpractice case involving Eric Salley who, the lawsuit alleged, did not receive prompt and appropriate treatment from Dr. Marcelo DaSilva after he underwent gall bladder removal surgery in the summer of 2007.

Eric Salley claimed in his lawsuit that alleged delays in addressing his post-operative problems and the treatment course DaSilva recommended led to his sustaining a severe hernia that required further operations.

The resulting medical issues constrained his ability to work and do household tasks, Salley contended.  In the end, the jury found in Mr. Salley's favor and awarded him $250,000.
