Posted by Peter Heed on July 10, 2015

Patient advocates weighed in on “Lavern’s Law,” a bill winding its way through the New York legislature that would change the time the statute of limitations would kick in from the time when medical practice first occurred to the time it was first discovered.

The law concerns a case when a women was not informed of a curable lung mass during during a routine chest x-ray and died of lung cancer three years later.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he’s convinced the law needs to change and added he’ll sign it if it gets to his desk.
