A Texas patient whose small bowel was accidentally perforated during a surgical procedure has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit alleging negligence. The allegations include the surgeon failed to note abnormalities on subsequent x-rays; and instead ordered excessive amounts of morphine to purportedly mask the pain symptoms.
According to the Southeast Texas Record, "The complaint cites intervention by other physicians on Feb. 17, including emergency corrective surgery and medication to reverse the morphine’s narcotic effects. According to court documents, Nobile suffered renal failure, infection and other complications, necessitating extended medical care."
